The Department of Dravyaguna intends to achieve academic excellence and promoting development of Ayurveda science by standardization, conservation of endangered species by cultivation & also by clinical application. Department has started with Post Graduation in Dravyaguna since 2022, having 6 PG scholars.
Department frequently has activities like field visits to nearby flora of Sandoor, Kurugod farm, Bakkal, Ulavi-gund, Dandeli, Sathoddi, Gajanoor and Kanakumbi. Department also collects different species of medicinal plants from different habitat and propagating those species by nursery.
Distributing medicinal plants to patients, those who comes to our Hospital by educating the importance & medicinal values of plants & encouraging them to cultivate & to share the knowledge.
Department has very well established Museum, Analytical laboratory & herbal garden spread across 2 acres with well established nursery, Green house & we developed, patch of a thick forest like plantation, tested and refined a method of ecological engineering today known as the "Miyawaki method" to restore native forests from seeds of native trees on very degraded soils.
Department is headed by renowned Professor, Dr. Rajashekhar Ganiger, and well experienced staff Dr.Shivalinga Bendikai Associate professor, Dr. Sampath kumar Bellam associate professor and Dr.Shivananda B Karigar, Asst professor
